Entries are now being sought in the 2011 Wildflower! Performing Songwriter Contest that is associated with the annual Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, May 20-22, at the Galatyn Park Urban Center in Richardson, Texas, just a few minutes north of Dallas.

The contest is open to independent performing singer/songwriters whose music can be described as acoustic, folk, country, blues, Americana, bluegrass or Celtic. Entries, consisting of two songs, must be submitted via mail or SonicBids by March 9 ,and only the first 300 will be accepted.

From among all the entries received, ten finalists will be chosen to perform their submitted songs and compete for prizes on Saturday, May 21, with the top three each being awarded $500 and afforded the opportunity to perform a song swap set on Sunday, May 22. All performing finalists will receive complimentary lodging for the weekend and will be honored during a breakfast at the festival.

Last year’s top winner was Grace Pettis of Austin, Texas, who was named both the grand prize winner and the “People’s Choice” – the crowd favorite as judged by a live audience.
